The Doctor, Nyssa, Tegan and Adric arrive in England in 1925. At a masked ball at Cranleigh Hall a series of murders begins, and Ann Talbot, who is the spitting image of Nyssa, is abducted. The Doctor must uncover the secret the Cranleigh family is hiding from the world.
Although the Fifth Doctor manages to get Tegan back to Heathrow as per his promise, the TARDIS arrives in 1666, three hundred years prior to the building of the airport. When villagers attack the Doctor and his companions, the curious Time Lord knows he must find out what’s going on. Soon, they discover that in this sleepy country village, all is not what it seems. Villainous creatures known as Terileptils are hatching an evil plan and the Doctor and his friends must stop them before the whole village is wiped out.
